Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate Boys from various middle schools in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools System enjoyed a fantastic experience at Tar Heel Preview Day. |
Over 250 middle school boys from various school districts in North Carolina visited the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on October 30, 2015 for Tar Heel Preview. This initiative was sponsored by Carolina's Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Office and the Carolina Millennial Scholars Program. Both organizations aim to expose students to higher education early in order to plant the seeds for future success.
As the Academic Support Specialist with Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate (Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools' Student Mentoring Program), I was fortunate enough to attend the event at the invitation of my colleague, Granvel Johnson (New Match Specialist). We were accompanied by 8 of our students.
Here are numerous photos from the event:
After the opening session, the participants attended various tours of the school. I was fortunate enough to visit the UNC School of Media and Journalism!
Lunch was absolutely delicious and filled with informative discussions and dynamic performances!
The sponsors were very generous with the Carolina Paraphernalia!
